Before there is an edition, there is the original. Every collection by Raphaël Vanderhaëgen starts here, on a blank canvas, with an idea, a story and the artist’s own hand.
Each original artwork is entirely hand-painted, combining contemporary Pop Art with authentic materials such as real dollar bills, vintage comic books, historical stock certificates and magazines, built up in layers through a range of mixed-media techniques. Every texture, every detail and every brushstroke is created only once, giving each work its own character and presence. The original forms the foundation for its limited editions, yet it remains entirely unique and can never be reproduced in the same way.
Every original is signed by Raphaël and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity. Created once and only once, THE ORIGINALS are for collectors who seek the rarest form of ownership: the very piece where it all began.
